Michael Jordan game‑three jersey sells for £9.3m, setting a new record for game‑worn NBA memorabilia
Michael Jordan’s jersey worn in the third game of the 1998 NBA Finals, marking the final season of his Chicago Bulls career, sold for £9.3 million (US$12.3 million) in a digital auction.
The auction took place on the platform Joopiter, owned by artist and entrepreneur Pharrell Williams, and was organised by Ryan Gough. The sale surpassed the former record of £7.6 million, set by a jersey from the first game of the 1998 series.
Jordan’s game‑three jersey is now the most expensive piece of game‑worn NBA memorabilia. For comparison, the record for sports artefacts overall remains the Babe Ruth “shot” jersey from the 1932 World Series, which sold for US$24.1 million (£18.2 million) in 2024.
More information on the auction can be found on the Joopiter website.
