Russian forces reportedly struck Kyiv’s Northern Bridge, damaging its road surface and overhead trolleybus wires, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

The hit comes after drones targeted the city’s Southern Bridge on Thursday, a move that the mayor said had “teared Kyiv apart.” He warned that traffic across the bridge is now blocked and emergency services are on the scene.

The two bridges are the main arteries that link the eastern and western parts of the capital, making them vital for civilian transit and supply chains. That makes the attacks a new escalation in Moscow’s campaign against critical city infrastructure.

Mayor Klitschko described the situation as “very dramatic” and called the strikes a concerted effort to strike Ukraine’s logistics, housing and other key facilities. He noted that emergency services are working to clear the debris and restore traffic flow where possible.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that the country’s actions are in response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, while NATO and other allies have warned that Russia’s drone campaign poses a broad threat to civilian life.

The incident has raised alarms about the broader impact of the war on daily life, strained resources, and the resilience of the city’s transport network. International observers continue to monitor how the strikes influence the conflict’s trajectory in eastern Europe.
