Recent missile and drone strikes from Russia have severely disrupted power and water services in Kyiv, injuring several residents and causing casualties, including the tragic death of a child in Zaporizhzhia. Ukrainian officials claim these attacks aim to destabilize the nation's infrastructure.

Overnight Russian missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

According to city mayor Vitali Klitschko, nine people were injured while residents in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and faced disruption to water supplies. Tragically, a seven-year-old child was killed in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country’s southeast.

Moscow has intensified its attacks on energy facilities recently, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accusing Russia of wanting to 'create chaos and apply psychological pressure.'

Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk reported that Russia was 'inflicting a massive strike' on facilities throughout Ukraine, while repair crews are racing to restore power.

A wave of strikes targeted energy infrastructure and residential buildings in Kyiv, leading to extensive damage. Five of the injured individuals were transported to hospitals, according to Klitschko.

Images surfaced showing firefighters battling blazes at a ten-story building amid the chaos. Ivan Fedorov, regional head of Zaporizhzhia, reported intense attacks on the city, noting the child’s death and injuries to three others.

All of Ukraine faces heightened alert for hypersonic Kinzhal missile threats, which pose advanced detection challenges. President Zelensky emphasized efforts to protect the energy grid, as authorities brace for potential future attacks.
