Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, famously known for her role as Dong Shan Cai in the hit series “Meteor Garden,” has died at the age of 48. Her sister Dee Hsu revealed that Barbie's death occurred on February 2 in Tokyo due to complications related to the flu, while the family was vacationing in Japan.

Ms. Hsu first gained Pan-Asian fame in 2001 through “Meteor Garden,” an adaptation of the popular Japanese manga “Boys Over Flowers.” In the series, she portrayed a determined student from a humble background entangled in a romantic rivalry with a wealthy group of boys known as F4.
