In a recent statement to the BBC, a Palestinian official disclosed that discussions aimed at securing a ceasefire and the release of hostages in Gaza are reportedly nearing completion. The White House's National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, indicated that a resolution could be reached "this week." In tandem, an Israeli official relayed to Reuters that talks are considerably advanced, with a deal possibly being finalized in "hours, days or more."
President Joe Biden has been actively involved in these diplomatic efforts, engaging in discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani of Qatar, who is mediating the negotiations. Sullivan also announced that Biden plans to confer with Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, further illustrating the international dimension of this mediation process.
However, Netanyahu faces significant internal resistance regarding the potential agreement, as ten members of his right-wing coalition, including many from the Likud party, have expressed their opposition to a truce.

Gaza's civil defense agency reported that a series of Israeli airstrikes on Gaza City resulted in over 50 deaths on Monday, as described by spokesperson Mahmud Bassal.
