President's latest medical examination reveals robust cognitive and physical fitness.
US President Donald Trump has been declared to be in "excellent cognitive and physical health" following his first annual physical examination of his second presidential term. This assessment, conducted at a Washington D.C. hospital, was released to the public emphasizing Trump's overall well-being, despite previous concerns surrounding his health, especially considering his age at 78.
Physician Captain Sean Barbabella, who conducted the evaluation at Walter Reed hospital, stated that the president demonstrated "robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function." The examination lasted nearly five hours and included tests on blood, cardiac health, and ultrasounds, further affirming Trump's health status. Notably, it was revealed that the president bears scars from a gunshot wound inflicted during an assassination attempt last July, which was described as non-life-threatening.
Dr. Barbabella's memo outlined that Trump continues to lead an active lifestyle that significantly contributes to his health. The president scored a perfect 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment—a test designed to evaluate cognitive faculties and detect signs of dementia, further reinforcing confidence in his mental acuity.
Among the findings of the medical examination, minor skin damage and benign lesions were noted, alongside a regimen of medications to manage cholesterol levels. At 224 pounds and standing at 6 feet 2.5 inches tall, Trump's weight has seen a decrease since February 2019.
This latest report marks the first medical update on Trump since a bullet grazed his ear during a campaign rally, an event which raised previous concerns about his health. During past comparisons with President Biden, who at 82 years of age served as his predecessor, Trump often critiqued Biden's cognitive status, questioning his fitness to lead.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, especially with questions surrounding age and health in leadership roles, Trump’s latest health report could influence public perception as both he and Biden prepare for upcoming electoral contests.
