Russian President Vladimir Putin has indicated his willingness to engage in talks with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, following Trump’s recent campaign vows to rapidly negotiate an end to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. During his annual year-end press conference on Thursday, Putin remarked, “I am ready for it, of course. Any time,” adding that he would welcome the opportunity to discuss a range of topics should a meeting occur.

Emphasizing the potential for constructive dialogue, Putin pointed to Trump's campaign promise as a significant opportunity to engage in negotiations. He criticized the assumption that Russia is positioned weakly, stating, “You said that this conversation will take place in a situation when I am in some weakened state,” and reiterated the notion that Russia has emerged stronger rather than weakened over the past years.
