**Trial Begins for Those Accused in Kim Kardashian Paris Robbery**

A major trial involving the heist of Kim Kardashian in Paris has commenced, focusing on the accused and the circumstances surrounding the high-profile robbery.

Ten defendants face charges related to the armed robbery that took place in 2016, as details emerge about their backgrounds, roles, and planned testimonies.

The trial involving ten individuals accused of robbing reality TV star Kim Kardashian at gunpoint in a Paris hotel room in 2016 has officially commenced. The incident, which occurred during Paris Fashion Week, resulted in the theft of millions of dollars in jewelry, highlighted by a $4 million diamond engagement ring given to Kardashian by her then-husband Kanye West.

In a grand French courtroom decorated with intricate 19th-century tapestries, the proceedings have begun to reveal the backgrounds and motivations of those implicated in the robbery. The first defendant, 71-year-old Yunice Abbas, had his life history examined in a French legal custom known as “enquête de personnalité,” which provides jurors with insights into a defendant's past. Abbas has a criminal record that spans petty theft to bank robberies and has spent a significant portion of his life in prison. He wrote a memoir titled "I Held Up Kim Kardashian," which the presiding judge interpreted as an indication of his pride regarding the crime—a claim Abbas disputes.

Abbas has expressed remorse for his actions linked to Kardashian's robbery, stating that his awareness of her suffering was heightened while observing media coverage during his incarceration. He admitted that although he did not regret his previous crimes, the Kardashian incident opened his eyes to the lasting impact of such actions.

Another key figure in the trial is Gary Madar, who worked for a transport company that provided services to the Kardashian family. He is accused of sharing information about Kardashian’s whereabouts on the night of the robbery. Madar, who has a history of interacting with the Kardashians during his job, denies the accusations and claims there is insufficient evidence to support the allegations against him.

The trial is notable not just for the high-profile nature of the case, but also for the diverse personal histories of the defendants. Marc Boyer, 78, is alleged to have supplied the weapon used in the robbery and expressed regret for the criminal environment that influenced his son's upbringing.

As proceedings continue throughout the week, they will lead to the highly anticipated testimony of Kim Kardashian herself on May 13. With an estimated 400 journalists expected to cover her appearance, courthouse staff are concerned about accommodating the media influx.

This trial marks the culmination of legal processes following the 2016 heist, which took a significant amount of time to reach trial due to various factors, including major ongoing terrorism cases in Paris and the health conditions of several defendants. Out of the original twelve arrestees, only ten are standing trial; one has recently passed away, and another has been excused due to severe health issues.

As the trial progresses, it is set to shed light on the criminal dynamics involved in this infamous robbery while simultaneously addressing broader societal issues surrounding crime and celebrity culture.
