The Whatcom County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) issued an alert to the public, asking residents to avoid the area due to the risk of being stung by the fleeing insects. "250 million bees are now loose," stated the sheriff's office, emphasizing the need for caution. The authorities declared that the crash site would remain cordoned off until the safe recovery of the bees could be ensured.
