Turkey is collectively mourning the 76 victims who lost their lives in a catastrophic fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu, which occurred during a peak holiday period. The fire erupted at 03:27 local time in the wooden structure, which was at full capacity with 234 guests. It took firefighters approximately 12 hours to control the blaze, which reportedly started in the hotel's restaurant section and rapidly spread. In the aftermath, nine individuals, including the hotel owner, have been detained as an investigation begins into safety compliance.

As flags fly at half-mast to honor the deceased, search and rescue teams are concluding their operations to locate victims. Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu has confirmed that 51 people sustained injuries, one of whom remains in intensive care.
