Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx recently took to the stage for a Netflix special titled "Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was...," where he opened up about the health crisis that hospitalized him in April 2023. He revealed that he experienced a severe headache and subsequently blacked out, leaving him unaware for 20 days. Initially described by his daughter Corinne Foxx as a "medical complication," the nature of his condition remained private until his recent account.

During the performance, recorded in Atlanta where he fell ill, Foxx recounted how his sister, Deidra Dixon, sensed something was wrong after medics sent him home following a cortisone injection. After taking him to Piedmont Hospital, doctors diagnosed Foxx with a brain bleed that had led to a stroke. His account included a harrowing moment when a doctor warned his family that immediate action was needed to save his life.

Foxx remembered it as a surreal experience, stating, "It was oddly peaceful," while humorously narrating feelings akin to being in a hot tunnel. Doctors informed him that while he might make a full recovery, he was facing what they termed "the worst year of his life."

He expressed immense gratitude towards his sister Deidra and daughter Corinne for their unwavering support during his health ordeal. Foxx noted their efforts to protect his dignity from public scrutiny, as he was concerned about people making memes of him during recovery. Upon waking on May 4th, 2023, Foxx found himself in a wheelchair, grappling with his newfound condition and initially rejecting the idea that he could suffer from a stroke, saying, "Jamie Foxx don't get strokes."

Following his hospitalization, Foxx underwent a rehabilitation program in Chicago and acknowledged the importance of family support in his path to recovery.
