In a deeply distressing incident, two women, one an Israeli tourist and the other an Indian homestay operator, were gang-raped during a stargazing trip in Hampi, Karnataka, near a popular Unesco World Heritage site. The attack unfolded on Thursday night when a group of three male tourists, including one American, were targeted by a gang of assailants who allegedly confronted them near a lake after pushing the men into the Tungabhadra River canal, according to statements from local police superintendent Ram Arasiddi.

Witnesses reported that the group of tourists was approached by three men on a motorcycle under the pretext of needing directions to get petrol. After answering their inquiries, the situation escalated when one of the assailants insisted on money, leading to a conflict that resulted in the brutal attack. Tragically, one of the male tourists was later found deceased in the canal, while two others managed to survive the assault.
