**The Sudanese army is intensifying its operations against RSF paramilitaries, claiming key victories in Khartoum while civilian suffering deepens across the war-ravaged region.**

Residents in Khartoum, Sudan's capital, are witnessing an intense military campaign as the national army claims substantial gains against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group. This latest offensive marks a critical juncture in the ongoing civil conflict that has persisted for nearly two years, leading to dire humanitarian conditions in the region.

Army spokespersons assert that recent successes have returned control of vital state areas, including the mint where currency is printed. While the RSF retains significant portions of Khartoum, military leaders express confidence in their momentum after reestablishing authority over the strategically important state of Gezira. "Very soon there will be no rebels in Khartoum," declared army leader Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who also serves as the de facto ruler.

As the military operation intensifies, reports reveal a grim humanitarian situation. According to UN-backed researchers, over 100,000 residents in Khartoum face famine, while twelve million have been displaced across the country, with countless civilian casualties attributed to the conflict’s violence. Sudan's crisis has been recognized globally as one of the most devastating humanitarian situations, with multiple organizations condemning both the army and the RSF for severe human rights violations, including allegations of genocide in Darfur.

Despite the mounting humanitarian toll, the army has reportedly enjoyed the support of numerous residents in recently regained territories, driven by fears of RSF's brutal treatment towards civilians, including killings and sexual violence. In contrast, the RSF dismisses the military's claims as fabrications sowed to maintain morale amid continued challenges on the battlefield.

Analysts have pointed out that the army's ability to reinforce its ranks and acquire more firepower has fueled its recent successes, alongside securing the besieged army headquarters. However, this has raised concerns about potential retaliatory actions toward individuals suspected of collaborating with the RSF, further complicating an already precarious situation for residents.

“This is a terrifying time for many,” said Amir, a Khartoum resident, as he worryingly questioned his cousin's fate amidst swirling fears of retribution against perceived informants. With the conflict escalating and a shadow of uncertainty hanging over the city’s future, civilians like Mustafa and Amir can do little but wait and hope for the dawn of peace amidst the ongoing chaos.
