**Egypt Proposes Plan for Gaza Reconstruction Without Displacement Amid Tensions**

**As the conflict continues, Egypt works to offer an alternative reconstruction plan for Gaza, emphasizing the rights of Palestinians.**

**Egypt is actively formulating a reconstruction proposal for Gaza that prioritizes the rights of Palestinians to remain in their homeland, following controversial suggestions from the U.S. government.**

Egypt has announced its commitment to developing a "comprehensive vision" for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, aiming to ensure that Palestinians are allowed to remain on their land, contrasting sharply with U.S. President Donald Trump’s controversial proposition to relocate the Palestinian population to other countries. The Egyptian foreign ministry expressed its intention to collaborate with the Trump administration in pursuit of a "just settlement" for the Palestinian situation following a meeting between Trump and Jordan's King Abdullah, where Abdullah firmly rejected the relocation plan.

Almost 70% of Gaza’s infrastructure is reported to be damaged or destroyed due to ongoing conflicts, with the UN warning that any forced displacement of Palestinians would violate international law, potentially amounting to ethnic cleansing. These discussions arise amid renewed tensions as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to end the ceasefire if Hamas does not return hostages, escalating fears of resumed military action.

During a White House meeting, Trump reiterated his belief that U.S. control over Gaza could lead to stability in the region and suggested relocating Palestinians to "beautiful" locations elsewhere. King Abdullah clarified Jordan’s unwavering stance against such displacements, mirroring sentiments shared by other Arab nations. He later emphasized in a statement on social media that a collaborative plan involving Egypt and Arab states is being formulated.

Following this, Egypt’s foreign ministry articulated its dedication to developing a plan that accommodates the rights and desires of the Palestinian people. President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi also voiced during a conversation with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen that Gaza's reconstruction must occur without displacing its inhabitants. The timeline for Egypt’s alternative proposal remains unclear, while an emergency Arab summit is scheduled for February 27 to address ongoing humanitarian concerns.

In Gaza City, Palestinian factions protested against Trump’s relocation plan, echoing sentiments of fear similar to those experienced during the Nakba in 1948, when a multitude of Palestinians were forcibly displaced. Amid discussions of international relations, Gazan locals express apprehension about potential compliance by regional leaders to U.S. pressures. With over 48,000 deaths reported in Gaza since the onset of Israeli military operations in October 2023, the humanitarian crisis continues to worsen with widespread displacement, extensive infrastructure damage, and acute shortages of essential resources.
