Actor Tiger Shroff was shot at in Mumbai on Sunday evening but did not sustain any gunshot wounds, Indian police said. The 36‑year‑old was leaving a football club in the suburb of Juhu when gunmen opened fire on his car.
At least two shooters fired multiple shots at close range into the front passenger seat of the vehicle as it was moving through a crowd. Video footage circulating on social media shows the shots aimed at the car, which slowed before coming to a stop.
The incident has raised fresh concerns about the safety of public figures in India, following a series of attacks on prominent personalities in recent years. Two people were injured in the shooting, including Shroff’s driver, according to local media reports.
Eknath Shinde, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, visited Shroff after the attack and said that attempts to intimidate people will not be tolerated. He promised that authorities would act decisively to end such hooliganism.
Shroff, the son of well‑known actors, began his film career in 2014 with the romance film Heropanti and has since starred in several blockbusters. He is also a football enthusiast who plays for the professional club Mumbay FC.
The shooting adds to a string of violent incidents that have targeted celebrities and politicians alike, including the 2024 gun attack on Salman Khan’s home and the fatal shooting of politician Baba Siddique in Mumbai.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the motives behind the attack, while the public watches closely for any escalation in violence against high‑profile figures.
