British paragliding pilot dies after crash in Catalonia

A 63‑year‑old British man was killed in a paragliding accident near Tremp, Catalonia, as officials investigate the incident.

Emergency services were alerted at roughly 13:30 local time (14:30 BST) on Wednesday in the Palau de Noguera area, close to the town of Tremp. Rescuers found the pilot seriously injured and provided first aid until medical teams arrived, but he later died from his injuries.

The Catalan government reported that three fire brigades and two medical teams attended the site, and the Mossos d’Esquadra police force coordinated with five citizen security and investigation units.

Local media indicated that the pilot had become tangled in power lines before hitting the ground, although authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the crash.

The UK Foreign Office said it is “supporting the family of a British man who has died in Spain.” Official messages will be sent to the victim’s relatives through British consular channels.
