In brief
A white foamy substance surfaced on a busy Nigerian expressway, prompting an urgent investigation by the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (Nesrea). Motorists gathered to photograph the mysterious foam, while officials suspect it may have stemmed from a lorry crash. Samples of the foam, water and soil are being analysed while the public is advised to avoid contact until results are released.
An emergency investigation has been launched by Nigeria’s environmental agency after a strange white foamy substance appeared on the Abuja‑Kaduna Expressway, attracting crowds and raising safety concerns.
Nesrea warned motorists to keep their distance from the unidentified substance, which officials suspect may be linked to a recent lorry crash. Preliminary evidence points to a spill from a lorry involved in an accident.
A regular driver, Isah Aminu, told reporters that he had been told “clouds had fallen from the sky” and later saw the foam, describing it as snow‑like. He urged authorities to explain its nature to end confusion.
Officials from the Kaduna State Field Office, led by State Coordinator Hena Dangari Emmanuel, collected samples of the foam, water and nearby soil for laboratory analysis. The agency advised the public to avoid contact until results are available.
