Tiger Woods to alter plea after Florida crash arrest

Tiger Woods will change his court plea five months after the March 27 crash arrest that led to a misdemeanor DUI charge in Martin County.

Court documents set a hearing for Wednesday morning. The ruling, announced after a body‑camera recording released in April, showed Woods calmly kneeling while police cited an "unknown substance" that impaired his faculties, though he passed a breathalyser test.

The footage captures him telling officers that he had looked down at his phone, "and all of a sudden, boom". He also declined a urinalysis for other drugs but acknowledged taking prescription medication earlier that morning.

Medical examiners later found two hydrocodone tablets in Woods’ pocket, an opioid used for pain management.

In a post‑incident statement, Woods wrote: "I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health." The incident marks his second DUI arrest.
