OpenAI CEO Claims Child Abuse Allegations By Sister Are False
Sam Altman refutes sister Ann's lawsuit accusing him of sexual abuse during their childhood.
OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman is facing serious allegations as his sister, Ann Altman, has filed a lawsuit claiming that he sexually abused her repeatedly from 1997 to 2006. This distressing news emerged following the filing made in the US District Court in the Eastern District of Missouri on January 6, where Ann alleges that the abuse began when she was just three years old and Sam was 12.
In a joint statement released on social media platform X, which included their mother and two brothers, Sam Altman vehemently denied the accusations, characterizing them as "utterly untrue." The statement elaborated, "Caring for a family member who faces mental health challenges is incredibly difficult," emphasizing the emotional turmoil the allegations have inflicted on the family as a whole.
The lawsuit, which has been reported by various media outlets, includes allegations that the abuse encompassed rape and persisted over several years. Ann claims that the last known incident occurred while Sam was an adult, although she was still a minor at the time. Within her lawsuit, she has requested a jury trial and seeks damages that exceed $75,000.
Prior to this legal action, Ann Altman had used social media to express her grievances and make similar claims regarding her brother’s conduct. Sam Altman, a prominent figure in the tech industry, notably led OpenAI's launch of the ChatGPT generative AI chatbot in late 2022, further placing him at the center of attention amid these serious familial allegations.
