In a recently aired Netflix special, famed actor Jamie Foxx shared the details of his health crisis that began with a sudden hospital admission in April 2023. The Oscar-winning star, known for his roles in films like Django Unchained, revealed that he experienced a "brain bleed that led to a stroke." During his conversation with the audience for the special, titled Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was..., Foxx recounted the harrowing day he fell ill, describing a severe headache and a request for aspirin that preceded him blacking out completely.

His family initially kept his condition private, referring to it merely as a "medical complication." Foxx's daughter, Corinne Foxx, later acknowledged how important it was to shield the public from the details until he was ready to speak. After his sister, Deidra Dixon, noticed that he was not himself, she took him for medical help. Doctors discovered the underlying issue—his brain was bleeding, and immediate surgery was necessary to save his life. Foxx recounted that a doctor told his family that without intervention, they would "lose him."

Foxx described the surreal experience of the stroke, noting that instead of a flash of his life, he encountered an oddly peaceful tunnel during his ordeal. He humorously remarked on the unexpected warmth of the tunnel, questioning if he was headed in the wrong direction. The actor mentioned that, post-surgery, his family was informed that while he might fully recover, the road ahead would not be easy.

The 55-year-old actor expressed profound gratitude towards his sister and daughter for supporting him and ensuring that he was not seen in a vulnerable state. He highlighted that upon waking from his surgery on 4 May 2023, he found himself in a wheelchair, grappling with the reality of his condition. Initially in denial about having suffered a stroke, he eventually faced the truth and entered rehabilitation in Chicago.

While Foxx was in the midst of filming Netflix's Back In Action with Cameron Diaz at the time of his medical emergency, he has since focused on his recovery, sharing both the challenges and the support he received from loved ones. His situation sheds light on the significance of recognizing stroke symptoms, emphasizing the urgency of medical attention when they arise.
