Following a disturbing knife attack in Stoneybatter, Dublin, Irish police have arrested a male suspect after three men sustained injuries. The local community expresses shock and concern for the victims while police continue their investigation.

A man has been apprehended following a serious incident involving a suspected knife attack that left three individuals injured in the Stoneybatter area of north Dublin. The incident, described by Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan as a "random attack," took place on Sunday afternoon and prompted an immediate response from the Gardaí (Irish police).

Reports indicate that two of the injured men sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while a third individual suffered a less critical injury. Emergency medical services transported all three victims to a local hospital for treatment. According to RTÉ News, the nature of their injuries aligns with "slashing type injuries," suggesting the involvement of a knife.

The arrested individual is currently undergoing detention at a police station, while investigators maintain an extensive presence in the area. Eyewitness accounts indicate that the incident unfolded across several streets in the Arbour Hill vicinity, raising concerns among local residents who were advised to secure their homes during the emergency response.

Mary Lou McDonald, president of Sinn Féin and a local representative, expressed her condolences towards the victims and their families through a post on X. She emphasized the community's shock and commended the rapid response of the police and emergency services.

O'Callaghan noted that he is being kept updated about the ongoing situation, and police have reassured the public that there is no immediate danger following the incident. Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack and have called on witnesses, particularly those who may have recorded relevant footage between 14:30 and 15:30 GMT, to come forward.

Local Fine Gael councillor Ray McAdam relayed the atmosphere among residents, highlighting both a sense of concern and hope for the victims' swift recovery. He stated that the community, while shaken, is grateful for the timely police intervention and is looking forward to the resolution of the investigation.
