The man who faked his own death, Ryan Borgwardt, has been found safe in Eastern Europe but shows no intention of returning home.
A man who orchestrated an elaborate scheme to fake his death has resurfaced in a video, assuring authorities that he is safe. Ryan Borgwardt, who hails from Watertown, Wisconsin, departed for Eastern Europe three months ago after making headlines for disappearing under mysterious circumstances. In communication with law enforcement, he captured a video clip asserting his well-being.
Mark A. Podoll, the sheriff of Green Lake County, disclosed the contents of Borgwardt's video during a press conference. The 24-second footage shows him in a sparse apartment setting, indicative of a minimalist lifestyle. “Good evening, it’s Ryan Borgwardt,” he quietly begins, adding, “I’m in my apartment. I am safe, secure, no problem.”
Law enforcement has traced his whereabouts to Eastern Europe, though his exact location remains under wraps. They have been maintaining almost daily contact with Borgwardt, urging him to consider returning home to reconcile with his family, which he left behind. However, Sheriff Podoll noted that Borgwardt has not committed to making that return.
“We're trying to appeal to his emotions,” said Sheriff Podoll, expressing concern for Borgwardt's wife and three children. “He needs to come home to his kids,” he added, affirming a commitment to continue these efforts until Borgwardt resolves his situation. Despite their attempts, the mystery continues, leaving many to question what lies ahead for the man who vanished under such unusual circumstances.
