The LAPD reports that missing Hannah Kobayashi was last seen voluntarily entering Mexico, amid family concerns for her safety.
In a recent update, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed that Hannah Kobayashi, a 30-year-old woman from Hawaii who was reported missing in Los Angeles, was last seen entering Mexico safely. The LAPD stated that video footage from US immigration officials shows Kobayashi crossing the border on foot after arriving in LA from Hawaii and deliberately missing her onward flight to New York.
During a news briefing, authorities indicated that she appeared unharmed in the footage, leading them to classify her as a "voluntarily missing person." Chief Jim McDonnell reassured the public, asserting that there is currently no evidence of foul play or trafficking involved in her case. Kobayashi's actions before her departure from Maui further bolstered this observation, as she previously expressed a desire to disconnect from modern technology.
Kobayashi has been missing since November 8, briefly spotted in various locations around Los Angeles before her last known appearance on November 12. Despite the LAPD’s findings, her family challenges the claim that she purposefully missed her connecting flight. They remain concerned for her safety, feeling disconnected from the investigative process. Her sister, Sydni Kobayashi, voiced these frustrations, hoping that the LAPD is doing all they can to find Hannah.
Tragically, following his daughter’s disappearance, Hannah's father, Ryan Kobayashi, was reported deceased near Los Angeles International Airport, having taken his own life. The LAPD reported that he succumbed to injuries from multiple blunt force traumas.
