A lawsuit has been filed against renowned author Neil Gaiman and his estranged wife, musician Amanda Palmer, by New Zealand native Scarlett Pavlovich. The suit, lodged in federal courts in Massachusetts, New York, and Wisconsin, accuses Gaiman of sexual abuse, claiming that Palmer played a role in her alleged victimization by "procuring and presenting" her.
Pavlovich, who currently resides in Scotland, detailed her allegations of repeated assaults purportedly occurring during her time as a nanny and caregiver for the couple's son. The lawsuit outlines that Pavlovich endured severe emotional distress, physical injuries, and economic hardships arising from her interactions with Gaiman, including claims of inadequate pay for her work.
The allegations surfaced prominently in a recent explosive article in New York Magazine and were echoed in discussions from a podcast where Pavlovich publicly identified herself as one of Gaiman's accusers. Four other women had previously made allegations against Gaiman in the same podcast. In response to the allegations, Gaiman has firmly denied any wrongdoing, stating, “I have never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone. Ever.”
The roots of this troubling situation trace back to a meeting in New Zealand in 2020, where Pavlovich, then 22 and reportedly homeless, became acquainted with Palmer. This led to her assisting the couple in various capacities, including child care.
