Jailed Conspirators in Canserbero Murder Case: A Tragic Cover-Up Unveiled
Five individuals have been sentenced for their roles in the cover-up of the notorious murder of Venezuelan rapper Canserbero, who was killed in 2015.
In a shocking development regarding the 2015 murder of Venezuelan rapper Canserbero, five individuals, including a forensic expert, three police officers, and a music impresario, have been sentenced to prison for their roles in the cover-up of the crime. The rapper, whose real name was Tirone González and who was celebrated as one of the top Spanish-language rappers by Rolling Stone magazine, was found to have been drugged and murdered by his manager, Natalia Améstica.
Canserbero’s death, which occurred on January 19, 2015, was initially ruled a suicide after the 26-year-old musician allegedly killed his friend, Carlos Molnar, during a knife fight before jumping from the 10th floor of a building. However, this narrative was dramatically upended in December 2023 when Natalia Améstica confessed to murdering both Canserbero and Molnar.
In a video statement released by the Venezuelan attorney general, Améstica recounted details of the tragic night, revealing that she had drugged Canserbero and Molnar before attacking them. She explained that upon discovering that Canserbero no longer wanted her as his manager, she became enraged and prepared a spiked tea for the two men during a visit to her apartment in Maracay. After incapacitating them, she stabbed Molnar and subsequently attacked Canserbero, who was unable to defend himself due to the drugs.
Seeking assistance, Améstica called her brother, Guillermo, who arrived with three Sebin intelligence officers. Together, they staged the crime scene to resemble a murder-suicide, ultimately throwing Canserbero's body out of the window to support their fabricated narrative. The investigation initially pointed towards suicide when forensic investigations began, but Guillermo Améstica claimed that the forensic expert on the scene was suspicious and attempted to extort the siblings in exchange for cooperation.
The five conspirators received prison sentences ranging from 15 to 20 years for their crimes, while Natalia and Guillermo Améstica had previously been sentenced to 25 years for murder earlier in the year. The music impresario, Marcos Pratolongo, who was also involved, had possession of important evidence related to the case and was held accountable for his complicity in the murder.
The Canserbero case has left a lasting impact on the Venezuelan rap community and continues to spark discussions about justice, accountability, and the true nature of the events that unfolded on that fateful night nearly a decade ago.
