Prince Harry's Charity Split: Allegations of Bullying Surface
A conflict within Sentebale spills into public view, as accusations of harassment and manipulation are leveled against Prince Harry by a co-founder.
In a dramatic escalation involving the charity Sentebale, co-founder Prince Harry faces serious accusations of bullying from the organization’s chair, Sophie Chandauka. Following Harry's resignation from his patron role, Chandauka publicly claimed that the prince engaged in harassment in an attempt to force her out.
In an interview with Sky News, Chandauka expressed the emotional and organizational toll of Harry's departure, stating, “Can you imagine what that attack has done for me, on me, and the 540 individuals in the Sentebale organizations and their family?” She labeled his actions as “an example of harassment and bullying at scale.”
A representative for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle chose not to respond to these allegations, which unfolded during the Sky News program “Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips.”
Founded in 2006 in memory of his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, Sentebale aims to support young victims of the HIV pandemic in Lesotho and has extended its services to Botswana addressing a variety of issues including substance abuse and gender-based violence.
Harry's resignation came alongside that of Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, with the prince citing an irreparable breakdown in trust and relations within the board that included five members stepping down the previous week. The situation highlights the intense pressure within charitable organizations and the consequences of internal conflicts.
