Brazilian President Lula Recovers After Emergency Surgery for Skull Bleeding
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stabilizes post-surgery, attributed to a previous fall; medical team reports positive recovery.
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil is currently in recovery after an emergency surgical procedure aimed at addressing bleeding in his skull. Medical experts believe this medical complication is related to a fall that occurred in October. Lula, aged 79, was admitted to the Hospital Sírio-Libanês in São Paulo after experiencing severe headaches and flu-like symptoms, which led to the discovery of an intracranial hemorrhage through MRI scans.
Dr. Roberto Kalil, part of the medical team, stated that the surgery, which lasted about two hours, went without complications, and Mr. Lula is now in stable condition. The president is under observation in an intensive care unit but has exhibited positive signs, including normal conversation and eating. Doctors confirmed that the operation had no adverse effects on his brain function or physical movement.
The surgery was deemed necessary after Mr. Lula sought medical assistance on Monday night due to escalating symptoms. Following the procedure, his care team remains hopeful for an undisturbed recovery period, estimating that he will stay in the hospital for at least another 48 hours for observation and recuperation.
