Multiple people feared dead after a boat carrying 95 passengers sank on Lake Kariba.
Police say the vessel left earlier that day in bad weather and may have been hit by a wave and overturned. According to the Zimbabwe Civil Protection Unit, ticket sales recorded 114 adults aboard, leaving room for an unknown number of children below ticketing age.

Lake Kariba, straddling the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, is one of the world’s largest man‑made reservoirs and a key source of hydroelectric power. The disaster highlights safety concerns associated with overcrowding on ferries operating in the region.
Rescue crews are still searching for survivors, and police said that details on casualties will be released in due course.
