Justin Bieber Reclaims the Spotlight at Coachella with an Emotionally Charged Set
Justin Bieber made a nostalgia-fuelled return to the major stage as Coachella's much-anticipated headline act. The 32-year-old spent much of Saturday night's gig sitting in front of a laptop and singing to YouTube music videos of his older hits, such as 'Baby' and 'Never say Never', delighting the crowd in an apparent tribute to the platform on which he was discovered.
Bieber also played some of the home videos that had brought him to the industry's attention at the young age of 12, pulling them up on the big screen and interacting with live comments from the YouTube stream of his set.
This marked the artist's biggest live show in four years, following his cancellation of the 'Justice' world tour due to health issues.
Much of the gig featured Bieber alone on an otherwise empty stage, performing tracks from his 2025 album 'Swag'. He expressed to the audience his desire to take them on a journey into his music history. He frequently asked, How far back do you go? as he interspersed performance with personal anecdotes and reflections.
During the concert, he also featured the clip in which he most recently went viral, confronting a photographer and stating, It's not clocking to you, I'm standing on business.” Dressed in a hoodie and shorts, Bieber's minimalist presence contrasted with high-energy performances typical of Coachella.
Joining him on stage were musical guests including The Kid Laroi, Wizkid, Tems, and Dijon. Notably, his wife, Hailey Bieber, was seen enjoying the performance alongside celebrities like Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner.
Bieber had canceled his world tour after revealing in 2022 that he was suffering from facial paralysis, a result of Ramsay Hunt syndrome. Following that setback, he released a surprise album, 'Swag', in July 2025, and made his live performance return at the Grammy Awards in February.
His Coachella set marked a starker departure from the previous night’s headline act, Sabrina Carpenter, whose performance featured elaborate stage designs and choreography. Colombian pop star Karol G is set to headline on Sunday, as the festival continues to attract over 100,000 fans daily at Indio's Empire Polo Club, which has hosted the event since 2002.
