Canadian actor Kiefer Sutherland has been arrested after allegedly assaulting and threatening a ride-share driver in Hollywood, police have said.
Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reported that Sutherland entered a ride-share vehicle, physically assaulted the driver (the victim), and made criminal threats during the incident at 00:15 PST (08:15 GMT) on Monday.
The victim was uninjured, according to LAPD.
Sutherland, 59, was released after posting a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on February 2. The BBC has reached out to his representatives for a comment.
The altercation occurred at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in Hollywood and is currently under investigation by the LAPD's Hollywood Division.
Recognized for his roles as special agent Jack Bauer in the series '24' and as the US president in 'Designated Survivor', Sutherland is also the son of prominent actor Donald Sutherland.
Historically, the actor has faced multiple arrests; in 2007, he was sentenced to 48 days in jail for DUI and violating probation. He was also arrested in 2009 for assault, though the charges were subsequently dropped, and his last known arrest was in 2020 for making an illegal U-turn in Hollywood.
