Philadelphia police found human remains Saturday in their search for a 23-year-old woman who disappeared from her nursing home job about two weeks ago.
At a news conference, police disclosed that the remains recovered are believed to be those of Kada Scott. However, John Stanford, deputy commissioner of the Philadelphia Police Department, refrained from officially confirming their identity, emphasizing that verification must be conducted by the medical examiner's office.
According to Stanford, investigators were led to the site where the remains were found due to an anonymous tip. The discovery location was a wooded area behind an abandoned school, and it appears the remains were in a shallow grave, suggesting that the individual had been deceased for several days.
We are not going to confirm at this point that it is Kada Scott because that has to be done by the medical examiner’s office, stated Stanford. There’s still a lot of work to be done. The police remain in contact with Scott's family regarding recent developments, yet have opted to withhold specifics due to the ongoing investigation.
The case has raised serious concerns about the local justice system. Keon King, a 21-year-old suspect, has been arrested and charged with kidnapping and stalking relating to Scott's disappearance. Previously charged in a similar incident earlier this year, King had been released on bail prior to Scott’s case.
Currently, King is held on a $2.5 million bail, awaiting a preliminary hearing next month. His defense attorney could not be reached for comment.
