In brief
Before the 2026 Sydney Marathon, organisers face scrutiny after the participation medal showed the Allianz Arena in Munich, not Sydney’s Allianz Stadium. The medal’s design also includes a gold and indigo pattern by First Nations artist Ambrose Killian, with twelve ticks marking each kilometre of the 42.2‑km course. This blunder echoes a similar mistake at last year’s Great North Run, where medals depicted an incorrect city and river. Officials have yet to respond; runners will still enjoy a course that passes the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.
