Turkey says signal has been lost with a jet carrying the Libyan army chief and four other people.

In a post on X, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya states that this incident occurred at 20:52 local time (17:52 GMT), approximately 42 minutes after the Falcon 50 business jet took off from Ankara's airport.

The minister confirmed that Libya's chief of staff, General Mohammed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad, was on board the aircraft heading to Tripoli.

The jet issued an emergency landing request before the loss of contact.
