Thailand’s manufacturing sector showed a noticeable uptick in output and optimism in October, with the purchasing‑managers index (PMI) reaching 54.8, up from 54.3 in September, a reading the highest Thailand has seen since December 2025, Xinhua reported on November 2.
A PMI value above 50 indicates expansion in the goods‑producing sector, Xinhua noted, and the index’s rise signals broad improvement in operating conditions. According to S&P Global, production increased at the fastest pace recorded since December 2024, driven by a larger volume of new orders and an expanding customer base.
The surge in demand pushed the level of unfinished orders up at the strongest pace in nearly a year, Xinhua added. The increase in backlogs is attributed to firms raising workforce capacity to accommodate the higher inflow of new business.
While the data highlights a favorable shift in the domestic manufacturing landscape, the accompanying rise in unfinished orders suggests that supply chain and capacity management will remain a concern for Thai manufacturers in the near term, Xinhua said.
