EU Justice Commissioner Michael McGrath called upon Shein to align its business operations with EU consumer regulations, stating, "It's now for Shein to step up, respect the rules and bring its practices fully in line with EU consumer standards." In response, a spokesperson for Shein remarked, "Our priority remains ensuring that European consumers can have a safe, reliable, and enjoyable online shopping experience."
The EU's investigation uncovered a variety of problematic practices, alleging that consumers face misleading information, deceptive product labeling, unfounded sustainability claims, and incomplete contact information.
