Gunmen opened fire on a funeral service at a church in Jordan’s Karak governorate, killing six people and injuring 28 others, a government spokesperson said.
CCTV footage captured the attackers arriving in a car, firing into the church before escaping. Security forces were immediately deployed to the area following the incident, which authorities described as "heinous."
The attack came amid growing concerns over violence in religious venues across the region, and it has prompted calls from local leaders for heightened protection of churches and other places of worship.
A spokesperson for the Jordanian security forces said the investigation is ongoing and that the perpetrators will be identified and brought to justice. The event underscores the persistent threat of gun violence in the Middle East.
