On November 5, 2026, Al‑Ahsa Technical College, in collaboration with UNESCO’s Regional Center for Quality and Excellence in Education, hosted an event to mark World Quality Week 2026, with a focus on leadership, governance and digital transformation in training institutions.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the event, held in Al‑Ahsa, aligned with the global observance’s theme “Quality: Powering Performance,” which stresses continuous improvement and innovation across all sectors.

Event Overview

The Saudi Press Agency reported that the day was chaired by UNESCO RCQE Director General Dr. Abdulrahman Al‑Mudaires. He presented on quality excellence, adaptive leadership, and the future of training amid rapid change, while also detailing current obstacles confronting training institutions and the leadership required to confront them.

Dr. Al‑Mudaires highlighted governance foundations—defining responsibilities, procedures, implementation mechanisms, and oversight—as essential for quality. He drew a clear line between governance and digital transformation, noting that the former establishes the framework while the latter supplies the tools and data needed to support this framework in training contexts.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the director also spoke about integrating leadership, governance and digital transformation, explaining how digital tools can differentiate training delivery from traditional models, offering flexibility and data‑driven insights.

Stakeholder Perspectives

Mishary Al‑Qahtani, Director General of Technical and Vocational Training in the Eastern Region, emphasized that the observance affords an opportunity to embed quality as an ethical commitment across all institutional practices. He noted that World Quality Week extends beyond regulatory review, encouraging a culture of proficiency and excellence in day‑to‑day activities.

Both officials underscored that “quality is fundamentally an ethical commitment and an added value that should be embedded in every aspect of institutional practices,” echoing UNESCO’s broader mission to promote sustainable excellence worldwide.

While the Saudi Press Agency framed the event as an institutional celebration of quality and future‑ready leadership, the officials’ remarks reveal a shared intent to weave quality into the fabric of training operations, ensuring that each institutional strategy is continually reassessed and updated for lasting impact.
