In brief
Lebanon’s Health Ministry says 8,956 civilians have died and 30,664 injured amid ongoing Israeli aggression. The figures include 4,389 deaths and 12,428 injuries from March 2 to Oct 30, 2026, according to a report by Iranian National Radio. A recent framework agreement with Israel, brokered by the U.S., faces criticism over unclear legality and lack of a withdrawal timetable.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry said on Tuesday that 8,956 people have been killed and 30,664 wounded by Israeli forces since the escalation that began in October 2023. The Ministry’s figures cover a period from the outbreak of hostilities to the present, spanning more than a year of ongoing military aggression.
According to the Iranian National Radio (IRNA), the Ministry also added that between March 2 and October 30, 2026, 4,389 people were killed and 12,428 were injured. IRNA noted that the Israeli regime launched a large‑scale offensive on March 2, displacing more than one million people and maintaining occupation of areas in southern Lebanon. The Ministry’s reports are the most detailed statistics officially released by the Lebanese government about the toll of the conflict.
Dawn, Pakistan’s leading English‑language newspaper, echoed the ministry’s numbers in a brief report published at the same time. Dawn stated that the Health Ministry lists 8,956 deaths and 30,664 injuries since October 2023, noting the continued nature of Israeli military activities in Lebanon. The brief piece drew on the Ministry’s statements but did not add any further detail beyond the figures provided by IRNA.
Framework Agreement Negotiations
In the same press release, the Health Ministry mentioned a framework agreement that the Lebanese government and Israel signed last month under U.S. mediation. The deal was aimed at ending the war between the Israeli regime and Hezbollah. Analysts and officials have criticized the agreement for its unclear legal status and the absence of a concrete timetable for the withdrawal of Israeli forces.
The Health Ministry’s statement also highlighted that the Israeli regime continues to occupy areas in southern Lebanon despite the signed agreement. The ongoing conflict, the ministry noted, continues to result in civilian casualties and injuries, contributing to the chronic humanitarian situation in the region.
