This medal, which represents America’s highest civilian honor, is bestowed upon individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to society, reflecting the values of leadership and generosity.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place at the White House, with Biden praising the recipients as “good people who have made extraordinary contributions to their country and the world.” Alongside Wintour and Bono, the list features a broad spectrum of figures including politicians, cultural luminaries, and humanitarian advocates.
Bono, known for his activism against poverty and for HIV/AIDS awareness, previously received prestigious international accolades, including France’s highest cultural honor and an honorary knighthood.
