Unreleased Beyoncé Music and Tour Plans Stolen in Atlanta Car Break-In
Atlanta police are investigating the theft of unreleased music and sensitive materials from a vehicle linked to Beyoncé's tour, which raises concerns over artist privacy and security.
In an alarming incident just days before Beyoncé's highly anticipated four-night stop in Atlanta on her "Cowboy Carter" tour, unreleased music along with sensitive materials were stolen from a rental vehicle. The Atlanta police have confirmed that the theft took place on July 8, when the singer's choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue parked a rental Black Jeep Wagoneer and entered a nearby food hall. Upon their return, they found the vehicle’s rear window smashed and two suitcases missing, prompting a police report.
The stolen items included five jump drives that contained watermarked versions of unreleased songs, plans for previous and upcoming performances, and set lists. In addition, other belongings that were reported missing comprised a laptop, designer clothing, and Apple AirPods. Authorities utilized tracking information from the stolen laptop and headphones in their efforts to locate the items. An investigation revealed two faint fingerprints in the vehicle, though it remains unknown if any of the stolen items have been recovered.
As of now, the investigation continues, with an arrest warrant issued; however, the suspect's identity has not been disclosed. The BBC has reached out for comments from a representative of Beyoncé, who has been performing in Atlanta since July 10, culminating her performances with the final show slated for Monday night. Notably, her husband, rapper Jay Z, made a surprise appearance during the third night of this series.
Christopher Grant has previously collaborated with prominent artists, including Shakira, while Diandre Blue, a dancer known for her work alongside Beyoncé, starred in a 2024 Super Bowl advertisement where two singles from the Cowboy Carter album were unveiled. The ramifications of this theft extend beyond just the loss of physical items, highlighting ongoing issues of privacy, security, and the challenges faced by artists on the road.
