Bollywood Actor Saif Ali Khan Attacked: Investigation Underway

Saif Ali Khan, a renowned Bollywood actor, was injured during a knife attack at his residence, leading to a police investigation that has resulted in the detention of a suspect. Medical officials indicate that timely intervention has stabilized Khan's condition.

Police in Mumbai have detained an individual in connection with a knife attack on Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, according to various media reports. The incident took place during a scuffle at Khan's residence early Thursday morning, during which he sustained multiple stab wounds. Following emergency surgery, doctors have stated that the actor is now in stable condition.

Authorities secured CCTV footage from Khan's home located in the upscale Bandra neighborhood. Initial investigations suggest that the attack may have been an attempted theft. However, it remains unclear if the detained suspect was the intruder involved in the attack.

A key eyewitness, Eliyama Philip, a nurse who assists with Khan's son, provided a statement to the authorities. She described a nightmarish scene where a man brandished both a wooden object and a blade, threatening security. The intruder reportedly demanded 10 million rupees (approximately $115,477) as he attempted to intimidate the household into silence.

Philip recounted that, upon hearing the commotion, Khan and his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor, rushed to investigate. A struggle ensued, during which Khan was stabbed as he confronted the assailant. The intruder managed to escape, and police have released CCTV images capturing the suspect fleeing the scene.

Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery to remove a knife fragment lodged in his spine. Dr. Nitin Dange indicated that the actor's timely arrival at the hospital prevented more severe spinal injuries. He stated that Khan has shown signs of recovery and is no longer in the intensive care unit, although he will require a week of rest and restricted movement.

Deputy Commissioner of Mumbai police, Dixit Gadam, revealed that the weapon used in the attack has not yet been located. An ongoing investigation is focused on determining how the intruder accessed the household, with evidence suggesting he used a fire escape ladder.

Saif Ali Khan, aged 54, is a prominent actor and producer, celebrated for his work in numerous films and television shows over the years. He is the son of cricket legend Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and celebrated actress Sharmila Tagore.
