Singer Chappell Roan has officially left the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman, a move prompted by the agency's association with the Epstein scandal. In her announcement on Instagram, Roan highlighted her belief that industry transformation requires accountability, stating, I have a duty to protect my team.
The decision comes after Wasserman was criticized for past emails exchanged with Ghislaine Maxwell, whose connection to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has sparked widespread outrage. Although Roan did not specifically mention Epstein or the scandal in her announcement, the implication of accountability resonated strongly.
Wasserman has publicly faced calls to resign from his other high-profile roles, including his position as chairman for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. He expressed regret over his past communications with Maxwell and emphasized that the messages occurred long before her crimes became known. In a statement, he asserted, I have never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, attempting to distance himself from any allegations of wrongdoing.
Alongside Roan, other artists have voiced their distress regarding Wasserman's past associations. Rock band Beach Bunny and an indie rock group both publicly announced their disillusionment and desire to dissociate from his agency.
As the entertainment industry continues to grapple with the ramifications of the Epstein scandal, Roan's decision underscores a growing demand for accountability among talent agents and artists alike.
