Developer Urges Parents to Monitor Children on Roblox 24/7

Roblox is the most popular gaming platform for children aged eight to 12 in the UK

In a recent interview, a Roblox game developer has voiced concerns about the effectiveness of child safety protocols on the popular gaming platform, suggesting that parents should supervise their children every minute they are online. Roblox is immensely popular among kids aged 8 to 12, but the developer, wishing to remain anonymous, described existing safety measures as inadequate.

The developer's call for constant monitoring comes in light of concerns over harmful interactions. Despite Roblox's claims that safety measures are in place, including age verification checks initiated in January 2026, the developer warns that these are not sufficient and urges parents to reconsider their children's engagement with the platform without supervision.

Roblox, which sees over 80 million players globally daily and about 40% being younger than 13, has stated that user safety is a top priority and that it employs various safeguards to protect its users. However, critiques remain about how the platform handles reports of inappropriate content and interactions.

In the interview, the developer highlighted instances where children may be exposed to violent or harmful games and mentioned that many reports regarding inappropriate content go unaddressed. Examples cited included disturbing game themes based on real-life violent events.

Roblox continues to strengthen its safety protocols, but parents are urged to take an active role in monitoring their children's gameplay to mitigate risks involved with online gaming interactions.

As various countries contemplate the regulation of platforms like Roblox, the focus on child safety continues to escalate, raising ongoing discussions about the role of parents, developers, and policy-makers in safeguarding young users in digital environments.
