Polish authorities arrested Jacek Dobrzynski, a Polish national, after security services uncovered a plot to kill Prime Minister Donald Tusk and defence minister Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz.
The State Protection Service forwarded an email detailing the alleged attack plan to police, prompting the interior ministry to convene a special meeting. Officials described the threat as “deadly serious” and carried out the arrest swiftly.
Tusk thanked the police for “swift and decisive action” and praised the operation’s effectiveness. The suspect remains detained in the Lower Silesia region.
Poland’s new prime minister, who took office in 2023 after a previous term from 2007 to 2014, has faced heightened security concerns amid domestic and European political turbulence.
The incident is a reminder of the evolving security environment in Poland and the broader concerns about political stability in the region.
