Two Fatalities in Toronto Street Festival Shooting
Toronto police confirmed that two people were killed and six others wounded during a shooting that took place on St Clair Avenue at roughly 20:12 local time. The incident occurred during the annual Salsa on St Clair Latin festival, a 22‑year‑old celebration of live music and dance.
Police received calls about an active shooter in the area and arrived on the scene to find multiple gunshot injuries. While the force secured the area and has maintained a heavy police presence, the suspect or suspects have not yet been captured.
St Clair Avenue is a bustling stretch of mid‑town Toronto lined with shops and restaurants. The festival ran between July 11 and 12 and drew crowds for the Latin music showcase.
The investigation continues as officers comb through the surroundings and await the arrival of additional resources. Residents were urged to keep away from the site and observe official guidance from authorities.
