In brief
Cambodia has added new seasonal flights from Seoul‑Incheon to Siem Reap’s Angkor International Airport, operated by Trinity Airways with Boeing 737‑800 aircraft. The service is scheduled to run from 24 December 2026 to 3 March 2027, aiming to boost tourism to the Angkor archaeological park and strengthen regional connectivity. State Civil Aviation officials note the move amid a decline in international air traffic and emphasize commitment to expanding market access.
Cambodia’s State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) confirmed the launch of daily seasonal flights from Seoul‑Incheon to Siem Reap’s Angkor International Airport, as the country's travel sector prepares for the peak tourist season.
Trinity Airways will operate the service using its Boeing 737‑800 aircraft, with flights scheduled to commence on 24 December 2026 and continue until 3 March 2027, the SSCA spokesperson said.
The announcement, released in a press briefing in Phnom Penh, highlights the intention to increase visitor numbers to the UNESCO‑listed Angkor Archaeological Park during a period of heightened tourism demand.
Officials said the addition of this route would support Cambodia’s broader strategy of enhancing international connectivity and encouraging economic development across the country’s tourism sector.
Sinn Chanserey Vutha, a secretary of state and spokesperson for the SSCA, articulated the programme’s objectives in a statement that it would help drive more tourists to Siem Reap, particularly during the peak period.
According to the spokesperson, the route “supports Cambodia’s tourism growth and its international connectivity.”
“The service supports Cambodia's tourism growth and its international connectivity,” Vutha said in a news release.
SSCA noted that the airline and tourism partners will work together to facilitate smoother operations and further widen market access for foreign carriers.
The announcement came as Cambodia’s broader travel sector has faced persistent headwinds, with the SSCA reporting an 11 percent year‑on‑year decline in international passenger traffic to 4.55 million during the first nine months of 2026.
Despite the downturn, the new flights are positioned to act as a pull factor for travelers seeking direct access to Angkor’s heritage sites.
Trinity Airways’ decision to deploy Boeing 737‑800 aircraft signifies a strategic choice aimed at balancing capacity with demand for the brief seasonal window.
In addition to the operational details, SSCA’s release emphasized the ministry’s commitment to ongoing support for civil aviation, citing the importance of maintaining a robust framework that encourages airline collaboration and market expansion.
Officials stated that the new service would coincide with a push to strengthen Cambodia's regional connectivity, potentially serving as a gateway to further expansion into other macro‑regions.
For travellers, the route offers a new, convenient link to the heart of Cambodia's cultural tourism offer, cutting travel time and simplifying itinerary planning during the month of December and following winter months.
Details such as the frequency of flights, ticket pricing, and operational schedules will be released closer to the start date, with the SSCA coordinating with international aviation partners to finalise the logistics.
