US Authorities Issue Recall Warning After Energy Drink Cans Mistakenly Filled with Vodka

A potential health scare arises as Celsius energy drink cans are found contaminated with vodka due to a packaging error.

Consumers are urged to inspect their Celsius energy drink cans following a mix-up that resulted in vodka being filled into them, prompting a recall of affected products by the US Food and Drug Administration.

US authorities have issued a crucial warning regarding Celsius energy drink cans, following a significant incident where certain cans were inadvertently filled with vodka. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) alerted the public about the Astro Vibe Blue Razz edition of Celsius drinks, which were mistakenly sent to the vodka seltzer brand High Noon. This packaging error occurred when High Noon received empty Celsius cans and filled them with their alcoholic beverage.

In conjunction with this incident, High Noon also announced a recall of its Beach Variety packs, which were sourced from the same packaging facility. Fortunately, the USFDA reported that no illnesses or adverse events have been linked to the products involved in this mishap.

The recall targets two specific production lots, which the USFDA has documented on its official website. These products reached retail establishments in several states, including Florida, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin, during the period from July 21 to July 23. Consumers are advised to be particularly vigilant, checking the retail codes and lot numbers provided by the USFDA.

The High Noon Beach Variety packs under scrutiny include the retail code UPC 085000040065 and the following lot codes: L CCC 17JL25 from 14:00 to 23:59, and L CCC 18JL25 from 00:00 to 03:00. For the Celsius cans, the retail code UPC 8 89392 00134 1 should be checked against the lot codes: L CCB 02JL25 from 2:55 to 3:11.

The USFDA has explicitly urged consumers to dispose of the affected Celsius energy drink cans and refrain from consuming them. However, it reassured the public that other High Noon Beach Variety packs with different lot codes are not involved in the recall and are considered safe for consumption.
