Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua's driver has been charged after a deadly crash in Nigeria that injured the boxer and killed two of his team members, police reported.

On Friday, 46-year-old Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode faced charges at the Sagamu Magistrate Court, with accusations that include causing death by dangerous driving.

The crash occurred on Monday when the vehicle carrying Joshua, his personal trainer Latif Ayodele, and strength coach Sina Ghami collided with a stationary truck on a highway in Ogun State, near Lagos. Unfortunately, both Ayodele and Ghami did not survive the accident.

Joshua sustained injuries from the crash and was hospitalized, but he has since been discharged as of Wednesday.

Authorities have charged Mr. Kayode with four offenses: causing death by dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care, and operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license, according to police sources.

The case will return to court on January 20 for further proceedings.
