Police are investigating an apparent homicide after two people were found dead at the Los Angeles home of director and actor Rob Reiner.
Firefighters were called to a house in the Brentwood neighbourhood of Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon, where they found a 78-year-old man and 68-year-old woman, the LA Fire Department said. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The identities of the deceased individuals have not been released, and the circumstances surrounding their deaths remain unclear.
Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife Michele, 68, live in the home where the incident took place.
Renowned for his work in Hollywood, Rob Reiner directed classics such as The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and This is Spinal Tap. A local spokesperson stated that authorities received a call around 15:38 local time for medical assistance.
The neighborhood, Brentwood, is known for its affluent residents, including numerous celebrities.
Robbery homicide detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department are handling the investigation into the case, which they have termed an apparent homicide. Upon their arrival, police reported finding two deceased individuals; further information about them is being withheld pending investigation.
Reiner, who gained fame as a TV star in the 1970s playing Meathead in the sitcom All in The Family, was previously married to actress Penny Marshall. He later married Michele in 1989, with whom he has three children: Jake, Nick, and Romy.
