The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade kicks off Thursday in New York City, featuring new balloons depicting Buzz Lightyear and Pac-Man alongside floats showcasing Labubu and Lego.

The parade will commence at 8:30 a.m. EST, regardless of weather, starting from Manhattan's Upper West Side to Macy's Herald Square flagship store located on 34th Street.

Weather forecasts indicate a chilly day with temperatures in the 40s, while wind gusts of 25-30 mph could make it feel even colder. Authorities are closely monitoring the conditions as city regulations prevent full-size balloons from launching if sustained winds exceed 23 mph or gusts exceed 35 mph.

Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated during a press conference that there are no credible threats expected at the event. However, thousands of police officers will still be on the ground to manage safety.

The parade has seen protests over the last two years, particularly from pro-Palestinian groups, and police are prepared for any disturbances this year.

Highlights of the parade include performances from renowned artists like Cynthia Erivo from “Wicked,” Conan Gray, Lainey Wilson, and more, along with marching bands and cheerleaders. Features also include a large onion carriage balloon representing eight characters from “Shrek,” as well as characters from the Netflix hit “KPop Demon Hunters.”

In total, the parade will display dozens of balloons, floats, clowns, and bands leading to the arrival of Santa Claus. It will be broadcast live on NBC, featuring hosts Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker, with Telemundo covering the event in Spanish.
